The new season will consist of 10 episodes and will be based on the theme of “a raw and true story woven with redemption and revenge.” Writer and producer Bartosz Sztybor, director of the first season Hiroyuki Imaishi, and Emi Lo and Zach Aguilar, who voice the characters, also attended the special panel at Anime Expo. At the end of the panel, it was announced that the new season has officially entered production.
The new season will be directed by Kai Ikarashi, who directed episode 6 of the first season. This will be his first full-season directorship. Masahiko Otsuka will contribute to the script. Kanno Ichigo will handle character designs, and Bartosz Sztybor will again serve as both writer and producer.
The new season aims to bring a different perspective to the Cyberpunk universe. The series, which is stated to not be directly related to the first season in terms of its subject, will focus on new characters and a brand new story. This will offer viewers a production that both preserves the familiar atmosphere and offers a different experience.
Only the logo and posters of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 were shared at the event. The trailer for the series was not shown to the public due to the intense bloody scenes it contained. Instead, it was presented to a limited number of viewers behind closed doors at the Trigger panel. Although the release date has not yet been announced, it has been confirmed that the second season will be released on the Netflix platform.
