Damson Idris Excites Black Panther Fans

At the event, Angela Bassett (Queen Ramonda) and Danai Gurira (Okoye) walked the runway in their character-inspired costumes. One Battle After Another star Teyana Taylor accompanied them in her Dora Milaje armor. However, the moment that really caught everyone’s attention was when Damson Idris was caught holding Bassett’s hand behind the scenes. This footage reignited rumors that Idris could be playing T’Challa in the new Black Panther film.

Is Damson Idris in the New T’Challa Role?

Idris has been a frequent subject of discussion among Marvel fans lately. The British actor, who previously gained attention for his roles in Snowfall and F1: The Movie, has long been linked to Black Panther rumors. While he has humorously denied these claims in the past, his “yes or no” response to a question on the subject during a recent television appearance has further fueled curiosity.

Rather than recreating Chadwick Boseman’s character, Marvel Studios is rumored to be continuing the story through his son Toussaint (Prince T’Challa). This suggests Idris could play the adult version of the young prince introduced at the end of Wakanda Forever.

Following Boseman’s tragic loss, Marvel is being very careful about how to continue the character’s legacy. Studio president Kevin Feige previously stated, “We won’t be reviving T’Challa,” but the universe’s multi-reality nature allows for a different version to enter the story.

While no official announcement has been made for Black Panther 3, it’s rumored that the new T’Challa will first appear in one of the upcoming Avengers films. Director Ryan Coogler has stated that he remains committed to the franchise and “hopes the Wakanda story will outlive its own lifespan.” For now, it’s just a hint of a handshake, but for Marvel fans, the image could signal a new era.
