Days Gone Team Develops New Multiplayer Game

Days Gone received mixed reviews from gamers upon its release in 2019, but over time, it has managed to build a strong fan base. The game, which resurfaced with Days Gone Remastered, released for PlayStation 5 last April, has proven that Bend Studio is still a game changer. Now, hints that the studio is working on a new project have sparked renewed interest among gamers.

Days Gone Team Expands to Multiplayer with New Game

An ad discovered on Sony’s recruiting platform Greenhouse indicates that Bend Studio is seeking a creative director for its “next game.” While the details of the ad aren’t particularly revealing, it’s noteworthy that candidates are asked for “multiplayer game development experience.” This statement suggests that the studio’s next project will feature multiplayer elements rather than a single-player adventure.

Days Gone Team Develops New Multiplayer Game

Bend Studio generally thinks of story-driven games. Days Gone, Uncharted: Golden Abyss for PlayStation Vita, and the Syphon Filter series from years ago are prime examples. However, the studio is also known to have incorporated multiplayer elements into its Syphon Filter games in the past. Therefore, it’s perhaps not surprising that the team is building a multiplayer experience for the new project.

Amidst all these developments, the studio has also faced some challenges recently. In June, Bend Studio downsized by approximately thirty percent and parted ways with forty employees. Rumors also circulated in July that the studio was forced to cancel several unannounced projects. These cancellations were said to be related to PlayStation’s suspended live service projects.

Despite this, the prospect of a new game is promising for Bend Studio. While no official announcement has been made yet, the studio’s development of a new multiplayer-focused game seems to align with Sony’s strategy to diversify its portfolio. The team that rose to prominence with Days Gone may now be poised to reassert itself in a different field.
