Death Stranding 2 Was Almost Cancelled
As the countdown for Death Stranding 2 begins, Hideo Kojima has made some remarkable confessions. The world-famous game developer revealed that the sequel was the most challenging project of his career. Moreover, he surprised fans by saying that he came to the point of completely abandoning the project during this process.
Death Stranding 2 Completed Under Difficult Conditions
Kojima explained in detail how the pandemic affected the project during his statements as part of the World Stranding Tour held in Sydney. The first game was released in 2019 and quickly reached a wide player base. However, the global pandemic that affected the world made the development of the sequel almost impossible.
Not being able to work face-to-face with the actors was a major obstacle for Kojima. While the shootings were normally done at his own studio in Tokyo, this time some scenes were completed at Sony’s facilities in Los Angeles. When the entire team had to work remotely, the project plans were constantly postponed. Kojima also stated that he got sick during this process and thought everything would end.
Despite all the setbacks, Kojima said that he saw Death Stranding 2 as “a mission” rather than a job. He stated that reuniting his teammates and finishing the project was a great responsibility for him. He emphasized that the difficulties experienced made both him and his team more resilient.
This whole process makes Death Stranding 2’s journey to meet the actors more meaningful. This project, which was almost canceled, was brought to life thanks to Hideo Kojima’s determination. Fans are excited to see the rewards of this hard work soon.
