Demand for Legion Go 2 is Huge
Lenovo’s new handheld console, the Legion Go 2, has attracted the attention of gamers since its first week of release. However, the high demand far exceeded the company’s expectations. This led to significant delays and even cancellations, particularly for orders placed through the official website. While gamers eagerly awaited their devices, Lenovo’s statements further highlighted the situation.
Legion Go 2 Pre-Orders Crisis
Lenovo attempted to provide transparency regarding the order delays in a statement on September 17th. The company stated, “Pre-orders far exceeded our expectations, resulting in unforeseen delays in delivery times.” This revealed that the company’s inventory planning, particularly on a global scale, fell far short of demand.
Lenovo shared an update on September 19th, stating that additional stock had been secured, but that this wouldn’t be enough. The company stated that additional products had been shipped to retailers and that the device would gradually become more widely available in stores and online. However, despite this positive development, it also announced that some pre-orders placed through the official website would be canceled.
Lenovo emphasized that it considers it unethical to accept payment from customers and not ship products, and therefore, refunds will be issued for canceled orders. It also stated that re-orders can be placed through Lenovo.com when stock is replenished. This approach, at least for many disappointed users, demonstrated a more transparent process.
The exact number of pre-orders for the device was not disclosed. However, this situation clearly demonstrates the high demand for the Legion Go 2, exceeding Lenovo’s expectations. All eyes are now on whether the new stock will reach retail chains and whether the device will be made available to a wider audience soon.
