Disco Elysium Spin-Off Game X7 Revealed
Leaks regarding Disco Elysium’s canceled spin-off game Project X7 have sparked great curiosity among fans. The game, planned to be called Locust City – An Elysium Story, was designed to focus on the characters Cuno and Cunoesse. However, this exciting project was canceled last February. New leaks provide intriguing details about the game’s story and gameplay mechanics.
Cuno and Cunoesse in the Disco Elysium Universe
Locust City aimed to offer a single-player co-op experience where players could switch between the two characters. Cuno and Cunoesse were featured as side characters in the original Disco Elysium game. However, this game would offer the opportunity to explore the characters’ inner worlds more deeply.
The game was said to be able to use original skills from Disco Elysium, such as Cuno’s Inland Empire and Cunoesse’s Authority. Additionally, completely new skills such as Pursuit and Ambush would be introduced. The ability for two characters to participate in skill checks together would give the game a unique cooperative mechanic.
The game’s story would follow Cuno and Cunoesse’s escape from Martinaise after a murder. The story, which would consist of five chapters, would offer players four or five different endings depending on their choices. In addition, the characters would have separate inventories and the items in these inventories would have different effects. For example, a hat would increase Cuno’s Encyclopedia skill, while Cunoesse’s Authority skill would be increased because it made her feel taller.
The developers had planned for the locusts that Cuno carried in his box to form a colony in the game. Depending on the decisions players made, this colony would evolve and develop its own political system. While these details were exciting for Disco Elysium fans, the cancellation of the game was a major disappointment. ZA/UM studio is currently working on a mobile game that is completely different from the Disco Elysium universe. On the other hand, former team members continue to work on new independent projects. This lost story of Disco Elysium raises the question of “what if?” in the minds of players.
