Doubts Rising for The Last of Us 3
Expectations for The Last of Us 3, the third game in the The Last of Us series, have been shaken by recent statements from Naughty Dog President Neil Druckmann. In an interview with Variety, Druckmann stated that there is no clear plan for the continuation of the series, saying, “Don’t bet on a sequel to The Last of Us. Maybe this is it.”
Uncertainty Continues for The Last of Us 3
Previously, Druckmann had announced that he had created a story outline for The Last of Us 3 and was considering making a sequel to the series. In an interview in 2021, he stated that he had some ideas for the story of the third game, but that it was not in development. In early 2023, he hinted that these ideas were exciting and that the trilogy could be completed. However, recent statements reveal that these plans are not yet clear.
Druckmann said in the interview: “I thought about what a third game would be like for a long time, but I couldn’t find an idea that would excite me. Now I have a concept, and it’s as exciting to me as the previous two games in the series.” However, it is still unclear whether this concept will turn into a game.
The future of The Last of Us series also seems to be linked to the success of the HBO series. While the first season of the series covers the story of the first game, it was announced that the second season will cover part of The Last of Us Part 2. Series creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann stated that they plan to tell the story for three or four seasons.
The Last of Us series has a large fan base both in the gaming world and on television screens. However, Druckmann’s statements continue to create uncertainty about the future of the third game. While Naughty Dog’s next step is eagerly awaited, fans maintain their hopes for the continuation of the series.
