Duke Nukem Rights Transferred to Devil May Cry Producer
There was an unexpected development for Duke Nukem, one of the legendary characters of the gaming world. Adi Shankar, who made a name for himself with the Castlevania and Devil May Cry series, announced that he purchased the TV and film rights of Duke Nukem from Gearbox.

Speaking to Esquire, Shankar shared an important detail by saying, “I did not purchase the game rights for Duke Nukem, but the TV and film rights.” The famous producer also emphasized that he wanted to remain true to the essence of the Duke Nukem character.
Shankar said, “This project is a middle finger to everyone. They tried to brand Duke Nukem with his popularity, but this character is more than a brand, he is a rebellion.” He also argued that Duke Nukem’s spirit would be destroyed if a company were to manage this project, and said, “I will not let anyone tell me what to do.”
While preparations for the second season of the Devil May Cry series continue, Shankar is also involved in projects such as Hyper Light Drifter, PUBG and Assassin’s Creed as a producer. However, a clear schedule has not yet been announced for Duke Nukem.
