EA Lowered BioWare Over Dragon Age Failure
Electronic Arts (EA) has made a major downsizing at BioWare studio due to the fact that the latest Dragon Age: The Veilguard game could not reach 50% of the expected sales figures. It was reported that the studio, which once had hundreds of employees, has been reduced to less than 100 people after this development. BioWare, a studio known especially for the Dragon Age and Mass Effect series, had an important place in the gaming world.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard Burned BioWare
Dragon Age: The Veilguard was a production that EA released with great hopes. However, the game did not receive the expected attention from both critics and players, and sales remained half of the company’s targeted figures. EA attributes such low sales to the game’s high development costs and deficiencies in its marketing strategy.
The studio’s decision to downsize is directly related to the game’s performance. EA announced that BioWare would continue with a smaller team to complete its current projects and aim to use its resources more efficiently. However, this decision has caused great disappointment among fans.
BioWare has been known for years as a studio that stands out in the gaming world in terms of storytelling and deep character development. However, commercial failures in recent years have jeopardized the studio’s future. Considering that Mass Effect: Andromeda has also received criticism, it is clear that BioWare needs a major transformation to return to its former glory days.
EA announced that it will continue its work to determine the future of the new Mass Effect game and the Dragon Age series, which are among BioWare’s current projects. However, the shrinking team and decreasing resources increase questions about the fate of these projects.
