EA Sports College Basketball Could Be Coming
EA Sports gave hints that an old series could be back with a short but striking post on its social media accounts on Monday. The message shared with the phrase “Bring the Madness. Let’s run it back. #CBB #ItsInTheGame” suggested that the company was about to revive the NCAA College Basketball series. Another post from the company raised expectations even more by saying “There’s nothing like College Sports.”
Is EA Sports Bringing Back Its Old Series?
EA Sports was a major player in the field of basketball games in the early 2000s. The series, which started as NCAA March Madness and later continued as NCAA Basketball, ended in 2009. Legal issues regarding both licensing rights and player likenesses had brought the production of such sports games to a standstill. However, with the revival of the college football series in recent years, a similar step was expected on the basketball side.
Although the tweet shared is not an official announcement, the #CBB hashtag and the language used directly refer to college basketball. This strengthens the possibility of the series returning. EA Sports representatives are currently refraining from sharing any additional information other than the tweet. This situation is also considered to be part of a promotional campaign.
On the other hand, 2K Games, which stands out with the NBA 2K series, was also developing NCAA College Hoops games for a while. However, they also shelved these projects for similar reasons. There has been no statement from 2K for now.
A possible College Basketball return from EA Sports could mean a new experience blended with nostalgia for sports game fans. Although it remains unclear when the official announcement will come, such posts are causing excitement to rise.
