EA’s Iron Man Game Could Be an RPG

The Iron Man game developed by EA Motive has been silent since its announcement in 2022. However, a new development that broke this silence showed that the game could contain role-playing elements. A job posting seeking experience in the single-player action RPG genre has raised expectations again.

What Kind of Structure Will the Iron Man Game Have?

The job posting published by EA Motive clearly states that a candidate with “level design experience in single-player action RPG games” is sought. This statement indicates that the game will contain RPG elements, and has also excited Marvel fans. Mechanics such as armor customizations, skill trees, and technological upgrades are quite suitable for the Iron Man theme.

Another striking part of the ad was the statement “to design large single-player missions within the creative boundaries of the game.” This detail led to comments that the game may not be completely open-world, but may include mission-based and linear structures. Still, some argue that such missions may take place in a large open world. Therefore, it is still early to talk about a clear structure.

Another element confirmed once again by the job ad is that the game is being developed with Unreal Engine 5. Candidates are expected to be proficient in this game engine. This information shows that the project has high expectations in technical terms. It is also stated that the production process is still in its early stages and that there will be no release in the near future.

The Iron Man project is headed by Olivier Proulx, who previously worked on the Guardians of the Galaxy game. It is possible that the game will have a structure similar to Insomniac’s Spider-Man games and that the RPG elements will be limited to technology-based developments. However, studio manager Patrick Klaus states that Iron Man should be “different from other Marvel games, fresh and original.” This indicates that a different approach has been adopted in the project.
