Elden Ring: Nightreign Duo Mode Hit by Tsunami

The planned 1.02 patch for FromSoftware’s latest major expansion, Elden Ring: Nightreign, has been delayed due to a tsunami warning issued following a powerful earthquake in the Pacific Ocean. The long-awaited duo mode was supposed to be included with this update. However, the natural disaster delayed both the release of the update and some planned content updates. The development team made this decision out of consideration for player safety and global responsibility.

Elden Ring: Nightreign Update Delayed

An 8.8 magnitude earthquake off the Kamchatka Peninsula caused a serious tsunami threat along the coasts of Russia, Japan, and the US. 1.9 million people, particularly in Japan, were ordered to evacuate. Due to the impact of this disaster, FromSoftware announced on the official Elden Ring account that patch 1.02 has been delayed by one day. The development team plans to release the update on July 31st at 10:00 AM CEST.

The most notable aspect of the delayed update was the inclusion of a duo mode for the first time in the game. Until now, Nightreign had only been playable solo or in teams of three. With the new patch, players would be able to compete in teams of two. This mode had generated considerable excitement, especially among players seeking tactical co-op. However, this delay, due to security concerns, only briefly postponed the release.

Another important piece of content postponed with the update was the second season cycle, “Everdark Sovereign.” It was announced that this new chapter would be activated after the release of patch 1.02. The studio’s transparent communication and prompt updates on this matter were appreciated by the community. Players were understanding of this approach despite the delay.

Elden Ring: Nightreign achieved significant success, reaching over 5 million sales in just a few months. Selling 2 million copies within 24 hours of launch, the game quickly became a major hit with series fans thanks to its rich content and challenging gameplay. While the delay of Duo mode may be a short-term disappointment, the game’s overall success and promising future content outweigh this.
