Elden Ring Nightreign Won’t Be Duo
Announced at The Game Awards, Elden Ring: Nightreign will allow multiple players to fight bosses together in co-op mode. The game’s director Junya Ishizaki revealed that Elden Ring Nightreign can be played in both single-player and three-player co-op, but will not offer a two-player option.
Enemy Health Pool Will Scale Based on Player Count
“The game is designed to be played as a three-person team, but it can also be played as a single-player team,” Ishizaki told IGN. Emphasizing that there will be no two-player option, Ishizaki also confirmed that enemies’ health pools will scale based on player count.
Ishizaki explained the focus on three-player co-op: “We wanted to keep the sense of accomplishment and joy of fighting a boss together or conquering a map together, but recreate that in a whole new way. We felt that focusing on a three-player co-op experience would bring a whole new sense of accomplishment.”
Elden Ring: Nightreign is set to undergo a network test in February. Last summer, Miyazaki said there was outside interest in an adaptation of Elden Ring, possibly a movie. PlayStation maker Sony is also in talks to acquire From Software’s parent company, Kadokawa Corporation.
