Expectations Might Be Too High for Helldivers 2
Helldivers 2 players have had great expectations following some developments in the game. Theories have spread rapidly, especially that the missions and enemy types in the game indicate major events in the future. However, statements from the Arrowhead team have revealed that these expectations may not be realistic. The development team emphasized that some fan theories have grown “uncontrollably” and therefore there is a risk of disappointment.
Helldivers 2 Theories Have Gone Far Beyond Reality
The development team’s community manager put an end to the rumors by saying, “Players dream a lot, but we don’t have a content plan on this scale at the moment.” In particular, some players’ theories that a new alien race or a massive war scenario is imminent in the game were evaluated by the studio as “wrong-headed expectations.” Arrowhead stated that it is happy for players to discover the content on their own, but wrong expectations can lead to disappointment.
The studio also believes that some players writing detailed theories on social media platforms and drawing other players to these thoughts are raising the bar of expectations higher than it should be. “Helldivers 2 is still a developing game. However, the development process may not be as full of surprises as some players think,” was intended to prevent claims spreading in the community.
Arrowhead stated that they will continue to communicate with players and continue to be transparent about future content. However, it was clearly stated that the theories and expectations developed by some fans do not fit the current plans of the game. It was also emphasized that players should be cautious about information other than official statements.
While the community has a great impact on the success of Helldivers 2, managing such false expectations is critical for the sustainability of the game. Arrowhead’s transparency and open dialogue with players are considered a positive step for the future of the game. However, for now, it seems beneficial to focus on official announcements instead of theories.
