Fans Resurrect Cyberpunk Multiplayer
A multiplayer mode for Cyberpunk 2077 was once among CD Projekt RED’s official plans. However, the game’s troubled launch sidelined these plans, leaving fans deeply disappointed. Now, a group of passionate developers, haunted by the canceled mode, have embarked on a journey to make the dream of playing together in the Cyberpunk world a reality.
CyberMP: A Fan-Made Mod Glimpses the Future
CyberMP, a project dubbed CyberMP, has been in development for nearly a year by a team of 10 independent developers. While a public release hasn’t been released yet, a short trailer has been released, confirming that the mode is in beta. CyberMP allows players to team up to quest, fight, or simply cause chaos on the streets of Night City.
While the project doesn’t fully replace the official multiplayer experience planned for Cyberpunk 2077, it aims to provide players with a similar experience. Currently, the mode is only available to volunteers during the testing phase. Interested players can join CyberMP’s official Discord server for a chance to join the testing team.
The biggest innovation CyberMP offers is that Night City is no longer a solely single-player experience. Players will be able to explore the massive city with others, team up in matches, or challenge each other. While the mode is still in development, the released images suggest a promising experience.
CD Projekt RED’s official multiplayer plans may be shelved, but independent efforts like CyberMP demonstrate the creativity and commitment of the community. While there’s no firm release date yet, the day when Night City will be a bustling city seems imminent.
