FBC: Firebreak is played by only six players
Remedy’s first multiplayer effort, FBC: Firebreak, generated considerable excitement with its cooperative approach set in the Control universe. However, since launch, the game’s popularity has plummeted due to a lack of content and a failure to meet player expectations. Currently, the game’s active player count has dwindled to just a few.
The Crisis Continues for FBC: Firebreak
Released in June, FBC: Firebreak experienced a rocky launch from the outset. Its lack of content divided the community, and within weeks, the game’s concurrent player count plummeted. According to SteamDB data, the number of concurrent players has now dropped to as low as six. This is quite alarming for a game built on a live service model.
The fact that the game is available not only on Steam but also via Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus complicates matters. However, the low PC figures are considered a clear sign of the game’s overall success. In its financial report, Remedy acknowledged that sales fell short of expectations, and that PC performance was particularly disappointing.
Despite this, the studio hasn’t abandoned the project. Remedy plans to revitalize the game with a major update to be released in September. The goal of revitalizing the game’s player base has been clearly stated, with both new content and increased marketing campaigns. The statement, “We are confident in the game and will continue to develop it together with the community,” demonstrates the studio’s desire to keep the project afloat.
The future for FBC: Firebreak remains uncertain. Whether the single-digit player count can recover will depend on the success of planned updates. While Remedy’s bold statements offer hope, the future of the game will be determined by the community’s interest.
