Final Fantasy 16 Signals Switch 2

As Square Enix‘s multi-platform strategy expands, the possibility of Final Fantasy 16 coming to Switch 2 is also growing stronger. Producer Naoki Yoshida gave signals that the series could be ported to the new console with a statement he made during a live broadcast, “Only Nintendo is left.”

A Final Fantasy 16 Surprise May Be Coming to Switch 2

Speaking during the ‘FINAL FANTASY XIV Letter from the Producer’ live broadcast that took place the other day, Naoki Yoshida continued his words by saying, “Only Nintendo-san is left” while talking about the Xbox version of Final Fantasy 16. These words were interpreted as a strong sign that the door is open for the game to come to Switch 2. Creative Director Kazutoyo Maehiro also increased expectations during the live broadcast by saying, “I will do my best.”

Square Enix also plans to bring the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy to Switch 2. Series director Naoki Hamaguchi stated that the new Nintendo console could technically run the trilogy. Hamaguchi stated that they aimed to establish a strong partnership between Nintendo and the Final Fantasy brand, hinting that more ports could come in the future.

The company increased its platform diversity by releasing Final Fantasy 16 to Xbox and announced Xbox and Steam versions for FF7 Remake this year. According to data from analysis companies, although Final Fantasy 16’s Xbox sales were lower than expected, the Switch 2 move aims to balance this situation.

Producer Yoshida’s recent statements have created excitement, especially among Nintendo users. Although the Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy 16 has not been officially confirmed, it seems likely that this surprise will happen soon, considering Square Enix’s multi-platform strategy.
