First Gameplay Footage Released from OD
Hideo Kojima’s long-awaited project, OD, has finally arrived with its first gameplay footage. The game, produced by Kojima Productions, will be an Xbox exclusive and will be directed by renowned horror director Jordan Peele. Described as a “new media form,” the film is poised to bring a fresh perspective to the horror genre with both its cast and narrative.
First Details Revealed for OD: Knock
OD’s first gameplay trailer was released at the Beyond the Strand event. In the released video, Sophia Lillis’s character wanders through a dimly lit apartment, constantly disturbed by door knocks. She attempts to make the situation safe by lighting various candles, but this proves unsuccessful, and she is ultimately captured by a mysterious entity. At the end of the trailer, the cast is revealed, along with the words “OD: Knock.”
Kojima isn’t limiting OD to a single game. While the initial project will be called OD: Knock, it was announced that Jordan Peele is also working on another installment focusing on a different story. However, details about Peele’s project are being kept under wraps for now. This suggests that OD will expand with various independent but shared-universe sequels.
The game is noted for its hyper-realistic visuals and first-person atmosphere. The dark apartment scenes, constantly rising tension, and sudden encounters aim to recreate the intense fear felt from P.T. Horror enthusiasts have begun speculating that OD, with its structure, will offer the feel of an interactive film.
For Kojima, OD represents the fulfillment of an unfinished dream. After the Silent Hills project was canceled, the “true Kojima horror game” fans had been waiting for years never came to fruition. Now, OD will fill this void, offering a production inspired by P.T. but with a much broader vision.
OD: Knock hasn’t yet announced a release date, but the first gameplay footage has already made the game one of the most talked-about projects of the year. Developed exclusively for Xbox, the game could usher in a new chapter in the horror genre.
