First Hints for DLSS 4 Revealed

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang gave some hints about DLSS 4, the future of DLSS. Many people are wondering if NVIDIA will introduce new features and how DLSS will evolve in the future. During a Q&A session, Huang hinted that future versions of DLSS could generate textures and objects.

First Hints for DLSS 4 Revealed

Possible Features of DLSS 4

Huang noted that future versions of DLSS (possibly DLSS 4) will be able to generate textures and objects. In particular, he said:

“We already use AI for neural graphics and can generate pixels based on several input pixels. We also create frames between frames – not interpolation, but rendering. In the future we will even create textures and objects, and the objects can be of lower quality and we can make them look better.”

These statements show that DLSS 4 can significantly improve graphics quality and deliver more realistic gaming experiences.

NVIDIA’s Neural Texture Compression Technology

NVIDIA showcased one of the features of DLSS 4 at Siggraph 2023. The green team introduced the Neural Tissue Compression (NTC) solution. This AI-powered compression technology manages to reduce texture sizes while keeping their quality high. NVIDIA claims that this new format is superior to the older AVIF and JPEG XL formats.
