First Rumors About the New Xbox Console Have Emerged
Exciting leaks have emerged for the next-generation Xbox. While no official announcement has been made yet, the new Xbox console, allegedly codenamed “Magnus,” is claimed to surpass the PS5 Pro in both performance and graphics. Microsoft’s device, rumored to feature AMD’s Zen 6 CPU and RDNA 5 GPU, could offer graphics power comparable to Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card.
The New Xbox Console Will Deliver 4K 120 FPS Performance and Backward Compatibility
According to Moore’s Law Is Dead, a well-known leaker, the new Xbox is aiming for impressive 120 FPS performance at 4K resolution. Furthermore, enhanced ray tracing technology is expected to significantly improve the visual experience. This power will be provided by AMD’s next-generation architectures: the RDNA 5 GPU and the Zen 6 processor.
In addition to the hardware, there are also important details on the software side. It’s being suggested that Microsoft will opt for AMD’s FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) upscaling solution over PlayStation’s PSSR (Spectral Super Resolution). This could help the device deliver higher performance without compromising visual quality.
The new Xbox’s release date is being discussed between the end of 2026 and the beginning of 2027. This could indicate a shorter generation cycle compared to previous generations. If this claim is true, Microsoft may be shifting to a strategy of shorter console cycles and faster technological updates.
Finally, it’s been stated that the console will be backward compatible, and Xbox One and Series X|S games will also work seamlessly on this new generation. However, this will depend on whether the device includes a disc drive. Given that Microsoft recently tested an all-digital Xbox Series X version, it wouldn’t be surprising if the new console also launches without a disc drive.
