First Trailer Released for Russell Crowe’s Nuremberg Film

Sony Pictures Classics has released the first trailer for Nuremberg, a film about the iconic Nuremberg Trials that took place after World War II. Starring Russell Crowe, the film explores the historic trials from which it takes its name not only with its political perspective but also with its psychological depth. The trailer’s first message is clear: “The world will bear witness.” The film, which invites audiences to a dark confrontation, will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival before its release in November.

Nuremberg Raises Tensions with Its Trailer

Written and directed by James Vanderbilt, Nuremberg is based on Jack El-Hai’s book “The Nazi and the Psychiatrist.” The film centers on a striking psychological reckoning during the Nuremberg Trials, where Nazi leaders were tried. Russell Crowe plays Nazi officer Hermann Göring, while Rami Malek plays a US army psychiatrist who attempts to penetrate his mind.

Although the trailer is only a one-minute clip, it conveys a powerful sense of the tension between the characters and the chaos of the post-war era. The line, “Do you know why this happened here? Because people allowed it?” clearly establishes the film’s thematic stance.

The film, which also features a strong cast including Michael Shannon, Leo Woodall, Richard E. Grant, Colin Hanks, and John Slattery, aims to offer not only a history lesson but also a psychological inquiry into the nature of evil. The ensuing mental duel between Göring and psychiatrist Douglas Kelley, in particular, challenges the audience to consider both ethical and human boundaries.

Nuremberg, distributed by Sony Pictures Classics, will be released in limited theaters on November 7, 2025. However, it will have its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival beforehand. Initial impressions suggest that the film will be a remarkable work, both in terms of acting and narrative.
