Forza Horizon 6 Will Disappoint Fans on PlayStation

When Forza Horizon 6, which generated excitement in the gaming world, was announced at Tokyo Game Show 2025, attention was particularly focused on PlayStation owners. Given the series’ widespread appeal, fans expected the game to be released on PS5 from day one. However, Microsoft’s official statement suggests PlayStation players will have to wait a little longer.

Forza Horizon 6 Initially Exclusive to Xbox and PC

Microsoft announced on Xbox Wire that Forza Horizon 6 will be released in 2026 “primarily” for Xbox Series X/S and PC. While this statement confirms that a PS5 version is in the works, it doesn’t mean the release date will be the same. The game’s PlayStation release date remains unclear.

Forza Horizon 6 Will Disappoint Fans on PlayStation

Forza Horizon 6’s design, centered around Japan, brings a fresh new dimension to the series. It’s stated that it will offer a wide range of racing experiences, from the neon-lit streets of Tokyo to the serene atmosphere of mountain villages. Playground Games aims to create the series’ most detailed map to date, reflecting Japan’s cultural and natural landscape in exquisite detail.

The PS5 port of the previous game in the series, Forza Horizon 5, was quite a long time coming. However, Microsoft’s recent shift in its multiplatform strategy suggests the process could be faster this time around. For example, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle arrived on PS5 in just five months. Therefore, a similar scenario could be on the horizon for Forza Horizon 6.

This delay, disappointing for PlayStation 5 owners, also has the potential to impact the game’s popularity. Forza Horizon 5 was a huge success, exceeding 2 million copies sold on PS5 in a single month. How long PlayStation players eager to race on the streets of Japan will have to wait will become clear in the coming period.
