Frostpunk 2 Console Release Date Announced

Frostpunk 2, a dystopian world steeped in cold, despair, and strategy, is finally making its way to console players. The game, which launched on PC in 2024, will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 18, 2025. Also available through Game Pass, the game has been redesigned specifically for the console interface. Developer 11 bit studios plans to celebrate this release with both digital and collectible physical editions.

Frostpunk 2 Coming with a Console-Exclusive Interface

The console version of Frostpunk 2 will feature a user interface and control layout distinct from the PC version. The development team says they’ve built upon the experiences of the first game’s console port, creating an even more intuitive experience. Dynamic radial menus, resource-specific interaction shortcuts, and quick area transitions with shoulder buttons are noteworthy.

These new features won’t be exclusive to consoles; after its September 18th release, the PC version will also be updated to use the same interface when a gamepad is connected. This is good news for PC players who prefer to play Frostpunk 2 with a controller.

Two physical editions have been announced for collectors: the Icebreaker Edition and the Whiteout Edition. Icebreaker includes the full game on disc, along with all the traditional content, plus extras like a pop-up diorama and a digital art book. For those seeking a more exclusive experience, the Whiteout Edition offers an LED-lit shadow box, special badges, stickers, and limited-edition faction crests.

These editions will be available in limited stock through Skybound Games. Both editions feature eye-catching collector’s items and visual elements that add depth to the Frostpunk universe.

For those who haven’t played Frostpunk 2 yet, it’s a city-building and strategy game that requires you to make political decisions and keep the people alive as the leader of New London, a city struggling to survive after climate collapse. It is claimed that with the new interface, this experience will be more accessible and immersive on consoles.
