Genshin Impact 5.6 Details

Genshin Impact is taking players back to Mondstadt as the Traveler’s journey across Teyvat comes full circle in Version 5.6. Following the conclusion of Natlan’s storyline in Version 5.3, Genshin Impact gave players a bit of a breather with a set of festivals in Liyue, Inazuma, and Natlan again. While Version 5.6 will continue this trend by sending the Traveler and Paimon to festivals in Fontaine and Mondstadt, the latter will kick off the next chapter of the Archon Quest in a dramatic way.

Not only are major Genshin Impact characters returning to the fold, such as Venti and Albedo, but new figures are entering the story for the first time. Version 5.6 will introduce Dahlia and Varka, with the former expected to become playable in Vesion 5.7 and the latter only having a voice appearance in the new Archon Quest. The return to Mondstadt will feature a battle for the city against the forces of the Abyss, Albedo standing on trial, and the Traveler being challenged by the Hexenzirkel.

The livestream provided an overview of Version 5.6 and its main highlights. In terms of gameplay, it introduced Escoffier and Ifa as playable Genshin Impact characters, and announced that Escoffier and Navia would headline the Event Banners in the first half of Version 5.6. Raiden and Kinich will feature in the second half, with Kinich playing a central role in the Flagship Event of the patch. As for Ifa, he will join Escoffier and Navia on the Event Banners, but players can expect to see him in Fontaine with Ororon as well.

Genshin Impact will give Escoffier a Story Quest in Version 5.6 to flesh out her character, which will seemingly involve a culinary showdown. She is expected to be a powerful Cryo Support, capable of buffing Freeze teams to a whole new level. Coincidentally, Ayaka will also make her return to Genshin Impact, as she and the other Inazuma characters will feature in the new Chronicled Banner.

The upcoming patch will come with a new World Boss and Trounce Domain, and while it won’t feature a substantial map expansion like its predecessor, its scope and ambition can easily be compared to Version 5.3. As for what awaits players after their return to Mondstadt in Genshin Impact, the Song of the Welkin Moon is set to update for a final time on April 30, 2025. Version 5.6 is expected to launch on May 7, 2025.
