Ghost of Yotei Players Lose Their Swords

Sucker Punch’s latest bombshell, Ghost of Yotei, continues to captivate players with its impressive open world and fluid combat mechanics. However, a recent bug is tarnishing samurai honor. Players are reporting that hero Atsu’s katana is being thrown from his hands during combat and latching onto fences or rooftops.

Swords Are Thrown Into Out-of-Reach Places in Ghost of Yotei

According to screenshots shared on Reddit, players are seeing Atsu’s sword get stuck on rooftops, fences, and even clotheslines. This leaves the character unable to reach his sword and forced to fight with only his fists. One user described the moment as “Samurai drama,” capturing the scene as Atsu staring helplessly at a sword stuck in the ground.

While most players found this bug entertaining, it can become particularly frustrating when it occurs during boss fights. Some users poked fun at the bug with humorous comments like, “This is actually part of the story, now it’s time to fight barehanded.” Others wrote that they saw the bug as a “spiritual test.”

The developers made Atsu’s fighting style more aggressive and risky than Jin Sakai’s. This was why moments where players could be unarmed were planned, but the physics engine’s ability to launch the sword into inaccessible places became a humorous side effect of the game.

The workaround is quite simple: Players can recover their swords by returning to the last checkpoint or fast-traveling. However, this bug has already given rise to a new legend among the samurai: “The samurai who lost his sword but retained his honor.”

While no official statement has been released from Sucker Punch, the community is welcoming the bug. It appears that Ghost of Yotei offers a deep and liberating experience that allows players to continue enjoying themselves even if they lose their swords.
