GOAT Movie Creates a Controversy with Its First Trailer

Sony Pictures Animation’s original animated film, GOAT, has garnered significant attention with its first trailer. Described as a dynamic action-comedy infused with basketball culture, the film takes place in an alternate world dominated by animals. At the center of the film is Will, a small goat who aspires to become a professional in roarball, a sport dominated by giant predators. Scheduled for release on February 13, 2026, GOAT has attracted attention with both its visual style and voice cast.

GOAT: A New Story Where Sports and Determination Meet Animation

The voice cast is led by Caleb McLaughlin, known for his work on Stranger Things. McLaughlin portrays Will, a determined goat whose small stature challenges his giant opponents. Will joins the elite Vineland Thorns and embarks on a fierce battle to earn the trust of his teammates and earn a spot in the ROAR League.

The film’s sport, Roarball, is described as a chaotic game that goes beyond classic basketball, integrating extreme environments into the field. During the match, volcanoes erupt, forests emerge, and the ground can be covered in ice. Former NBA star Andre Iguodala was consulted to give this crazy structure its realistic touch.

GOAT’s voice cast includes renowned actors such as Gabrielle Union, Stephen Curry, Nick Kroll, David Harbour, Nicola Coughlan, Patton Oswalt, and Jennifer Lewis. The film’s character designs are by Eran Alboher. With its blend of sports and street fashion, the film is poised to appeal to both young and adult audiences.

Starring Michelle Raimo Kouyate and Stephen Curry, GOAT received acclaim with its preview footage released at the Annecy Festival. With its fast-paced, humorous tone, and striking visuals, GOAT could be the first step not only to a film but also to a potential animated series.
