Hades 2 Rocks the Gaming World with Its Metacritic Score
Hades 2, which has made a name for itself among indie titles, has garnered rave reviews from critics ahead of its full release. While surpassing the success of the first game seems unlikely, its high Metacritic scores have already proven it will be one of the year’s most ambitious releases.
Hades 2 Challenging the Top of Metacritic
Supergiant Games’ long-awaited sequel will launch on September 25th for Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and PC. However, thanks to critical reviews, its Metacritic score is already taking shape. The game’s overall score has reached 94, while the Switch and PC versions are rated between 95 and 96. This suggests Hades 2 could be at the top of not only the indie game release list, but also the overall release list for 2025.
The original Hades garnered high praise and numerous awards in 2020, earning a score of 93. However, every sequel struggles to maintain this success. Hades 2, however, challenges this perception and surpasses its predecessor. It’s noted that the game has become much more refined, particularly with improvements to the gameplay mechanics, new layers to the story, and polished visuals.
2025 is shaping up to be a very strong gaming year. While ambitious indie titles like Hollow Knight: Silksong (92) and Clair Obscur: Expedition (33) are also in the running, Hades 2’s score has surpassed them. While Switch 2 releases like Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild still hold the highest scores on the list, Hades 2 is leading the pack among new releases.
While major releases like Ghosts of Yotei still lie ahead, Hades 2 seems certain to be a strong contender for the year-end awards. The game will be available on September 25th with a free 1.0 update for those who purchased the Early Access version.
