Halloween: The Game Announced
John Carpenter’s cult horror series, Halloween, is being brought to the gaming world this time. Developed by IllFonic and Gun Interactive in collaboration with Compass International Pictures and Further Front, Halloween: The Game will launch in 2026 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. According to the announcement, the game will offer both single-player and multiplayer experiences and will feature asymmetrical horror dynamics.
First Details of Halloween: The Game
Halloween: The Game is based on 1v4 asymmetrical horror encounters set in the town of Haddonfield. Players will either fight against Michael Myers as one of the town’s heroes or take on the role of the legendary killer Myers and terrorize the town. This approach aims to provide players with suspenseful moments by combining survival and horror elements.
IllFonic’s creative director, Jared Gerritzen, stated that bringing the game to life was a great thrill for the team. Gerritzen emphasized that they would share more details before the 2026 launch. The studio is known for its asymmetrical horror games like Friday the 13th: The Game and Predator: Hunting Grounds. This history also fuels high expectations for the Halloween project.
Another notable aspect of the game is John Carpenter’s direct involvement in the project. Carpenter, the director of the original film, will serve as executive producer for Halloween: The Game, a strong indication that the game will remain true to the spirit of the film series.
While the single-player mode hasn’t yet been finalized, the development team is reportedly working on different experience options. More information will be released in the coming months. Horror enthusiasts are already looking ahead to 2026, the year Michael Myers will make his debut on the gaming scene.
