Halo: Campaign Evolved Announced
Xbox Game Studios and Halo Studios have officially announced Halo: Campaign Evolved, a return to the series’ roots. This reimagined version of the iconic Halo: Combat Evolved campaign will offer players a fresh experience with both modern graphics and new missions. Most notably, it will be released on the PlayStation platform for the first time in the Halo series’ history.
Halo Coming to PlayStation After 25 Years
Speaking at the Halo World Championship 2025 event, 343 Industries’ community director Brian Jarrard emphasized that the series will now reach a much wider audience. “This is a huge deal,” Jarrard said. “We’re bringing even more players into the Halo family, a journey we began 24 years ago. Now everyone can experience this legend.” The game’s announcement on the PlayStation Blog confirmed that Halo: Campaign Evolved will launch simultaneously in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The new installment isn’t just a remaster; it’s a completely rebuilt experience. Halo: Campaign Evolved will bring the original story to modern players with high-resolution graphics, revamped cinematics, overhauled level design, and more fluid gameplay mechanics. Three new prequel missions featuring Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson will also be added.
343 Industries aims to maintain the classic Halo atmosphere while meeting modern FPS standards. The game is supported by improved sound design and new voice-overs. Furthermore, beloved weapons from the series—including the Energy Sword, Battle Rifle, and Needle Rifle—have been redesigned and incorporated into the campaign. Two-player split-screen co-op, online four-player co-op, and full cross-play support are also available on consoles.
The revamped vehicle dynamics are also noteworthy. Players can now not only drive Warthogs, but also hijack enemy vehicles and wreak havoc on the battlefield. Additionally, with the “Campaign Remix” feature, players can custom-remix missions and create different challenges and gameplay experiences with “Skull” modifications.
This project is seen as the beginning of a brand new era for the Halo series. The series’ long-standing Xbox exclusivity ends with the arrival of Halo: Campaign Evolved on PlayStation. 343 Industries announced its new vision, saying, “Now, Halo will be a universe accessible to everyone.” The game will be released in 2026 and will be available to Game Pass subscribers on launch day.
