Highlander Reboot Filming Moved to 2026

The Highlander reboot, directed by Chad Stahelski, was set to begin filming in the coming weeks. However, an injury to lead actor Henry Cavill during training for his role unexpectedly impacted the project. Production is now slated to begin filming in early 2026.

Highlander Reboot Postponed

Henry Cavill, known for his roles in Superman and The Witcher, will portray the immortal warrior Connor MacLeod in the Highlander reboot. While the extent of Cavill’s injury has not been fully disclosed, this development has delayed production by at least a few months. Filming is expected to proceed smoothly once the actor returns to the role.

The cast accompanying Cavill is also impressive. Dave Bautista will portray the unforgettable Kurgan, while Russell Crowe will reprise his role as Ramirez, played by Sean Connery in the 1986 film. Strong actors such as Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, and Djimon Hounsou will also add new layers to the story.

According to Stahelski, the film features some changes to the original Highlander’s timeline. The story moves from 1500s Scotland to modern-day New York and Hong Kong. Drawing on his experience with John Wick, the director aims to elevate the action to a new level, while also emphasizing that the film will feature an unconventional love story.

The Highlander reboot aims to revitalize the legacy of the storied series. The original, beloved by fans for years, became a disappointing series with its sequels. The reboot is expected to elevate the saga to new heights by presenting the immortals’ war between the ages from a modern perspective. However, it looks like fans will have to wait a little longer.
