Hollow Knight: Silksong Still On The Long-awaited Games List
Announced in 2019, Hollow Knight: Silksong is one of the most anticipated sequels of the Metroidvania genre. However, despite the 6 years that passed and an indefinite delay to 2023, no clear release date has been shared for the game. Despite this, Xbox recently listed Hollow Knight: Silksong among its “upcoming games”. This has excited fans who have been waiting impatiently again.
Why Was Hollow Knight: Silksong So Long Awaited?
Hollow Knight: Silksong was announced by Team Cherry after the great success of the first game. However, the development team has only provided limited information about the game since then. Ultimately, it was announced in 2023 that the game was delayed indefinitely. During this process, Team Cherry stated that the development process was ongoing and the game “will happen”, but fans’ patience has reached the point of exhaustion.
Xbox’s ID@Xbox program statement listed Hollow Knight: Silksong alongside games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Descenders Next. However, while the release dates of other games were clearly stated, no date was given for Silksong. This increased hopes that the game could be released in 2025.
The postponement process of Hollow Knight: Silksong led to various speculations among fans. In particular, Nintendo’s brief removal of the game’s store page fueled rumors that the game was canceled. However, this was quickly corrected and the developers confirmed that the game was still in development.
Although this uncertainty sometimes disappoints fans of the game, Hollow Knight’s legacy and the innovations promised by Silksong keep expectations alive. It is known that the game will offer a wider world, new enemies and enriched storytelling.
