In-Game Browser Experience Launches with Microsoft Edge Game Assist
Microsoft has launched Microsoft Edge Game Assist, a new feature for Windows 11 users, for beta testing. Microsoft Edge Game Assist is a browser overlay that allows players to find tips and guides without leaving the game. This “game-aware” overlay sits within the Microsoft Game Bar and is designed to automatically find and show links to the game you’re playing.
Easy Game Access with Microsoft Edge Game Assist
Microsoft Edge Game Assist uses the profile you sign in to Edge with, giving you access to your data such as cookies, autofill and favorites. This way you don’t need to sign in to sites again. Like other Game Bar widgets, you can pin it while you play. Microsoft Edge Game Assist is currently available in English, and to use it you need to join the preview and set Microsoft Edge Beta 132 as your default browser.
Right now you’ll have to find content for most games yourself, but Microsoft Edge Game Assist’s game awareness feature will automatically provide information for a few games, such as Baldur’s Gate 3, Diablo IV and Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga, to name a few. Microsoft says it will add support for other games throughout the preview and over time.
Microsoft is collecting feedback in several ways. In Microsoft Edge Game Assist, you can share your feedback by going to Settings and more (“…”) > Send feedback. You can also vote on features you’d like to see added to Microsoft Edge Game Assist using the Game Assist Community feedback portal, and the company will also monitor feedback on r/MicrosoftEdge, X and other social channels.
Microsoft Edge Game Assist currently only supports mouse and keyboard input, but Microsoft says it will add support for handheld devices and gamepads in the future. Compact Mode support will also come later.
