Insidious 6 Filming Begins

The long-awaited developments for the new film in the Insidious series have finally arrived. The previously delayed Insidious 6 is set to be released on August 21, 2026. It has been announced that filming will begin on September 15, 2025, in Melbourne, Australia. This development also marks the beginning of a significant casting process for characters not featured in previous installments of the series.

Insidious 6 Revamps Cast and Story

The new film will be directed by Jacob Chase, known for his 2020 film “Come Play.” Haley Bennett, known for her work on “Swallow,” is expected to star. Unlike previous films, the film will be shot in Australia for the first time outside of California and New Jersey. There is currently no information on the return of any cast members from previous films.

According to a casting notice shared by Nexus Point News, the search is for three main supporting characters. These include Lester, Patsy, and Edna, elderly characters who terrorize their neighbors. The search for actors with “unique and terrifying appearances” suggests that the new film will feature a strong horror element.

James Wan, one of the series’ creators, previously announced plans for a spin-off story called Thread: An Insidious Tale. Mandy Moore and Kumail Nanjiani were expected to star in this spin-off, but it has not yet begun production. While Thread’s fate remains uncertain, Wan has stated that the universe is open to new stories and that new productions set in “The Further” may be in the works.

Insidious 6 aims to breathe new life into the series with both its filming locations and its cast. The fact that the long-since-quiet production has finally begun filming is an exciting development for horror film enthusiasts.
