Intel XeSS 2 SDK Released with Unity and Unreal Support

Intel has finally released the long-awaited XeSS 2 SDK to the development community. This software development kit, which aims to improve gaming performance, offers features such as frame generation, super resolution, and low latency for the new generation Intel Arc GPUs. Thanks to the plugins released for Unity and Unreal Engine 4/5, the integration of XeSS technology into games is now much faster and easier.

Features of Intel XeSS 2 SDK

The new XeSS 2 SDK provides developers with a variety of tools with three main components:

XeSS-SR (Super Resolution): It can increase frame rates on all GPUs that support Shader Model 6.4.

XeSS-FG (Frame Generation): It offers smoother movements and higher frame rates, and can work with XMX (Xe Matrix Extensions) on Intel Arc GPUs.

XeLL (Xe Low Latency): Provides a more responsive gaming experience by reducing input lag and is available on both Intel’s integrated and discrete Arc GPUs.

In addition, Intel’s XeSS Inspector tool has also been updated. This tool allows developers to examine XeSS 2’s performance in games in detail. However, it is stated that Intel does not share the XeSS 2 algorithms as open source and is limited to pre-compiled libraries.

One of the biggest advantages of the Intel XeSS 2 SDK is the plugins offered for Unity and Unreal Engine 4/5. These plugins allow game developers in particular to quickly integrate XeSS technology into their projects. Intel aims to provide comprehensive support so that the development community can fully benefit from these new tools.

The XeSS 2 SDK aims to increase game performance across a wide range of systems, from low-budget systems to high-performance gaming platforms. Intel’s move is seen as an effort to create a solid alternative to Nvidia and AMD, especially in the GPU competition. Developers will be able to increase the visual quality of games with XeSS 2 and provide players with a smoother experience.
