Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Is Closer Than We Think

Naughty Dog’s new project, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, has remained shrouded in mystery since its announcement at last year’s The Game Awards. While the studio has remained largely silent, recent developments suggest the game may be further along than previously thought. After more than five years without releasing a new game, Naughty Dog appears to be finally regaining momentum.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Development Progress

While Naughty Dog president Neil Druckmann has stated that the project still “requires a lot of work,” some details about the studio’s current state call this statement into question. As Twitter user DomTheBombYT noticed, new job postings were recently posted on Naughty Dog’s LinkedIn page. These postings include positions related to Japanese and French language development support.

This could indicate that the studio has begun the localization process. In the gaming industry, localization efforts are typically initiated late in the development process. This suggests that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has made significant progress in its development. If these announcements are indeed for the new game, Naughty Dog is believed to be entering the final stages of production.

Still, caution is warranted. Neil Druckmann previously stated that the game is still an “evolving and changing” project. This means the story and some gameplay mechanics are still being developed. Given Naughty Dog’s meticulous approach, the team is likely focusing on perfection rather than rushing the development process.

According to estimates, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is unlikely to be released before 2027. However, preparations for multilingual support suggest the project is not as far off as planned. It appears Naughty Dog is preparing to return to the gaming world, this time with an interstellar story—and much sooner than we think.
