Is a New Mario Game Coming?

As excitement grows for Nintendo’s new console, the Switch 2, the question on everyone’s mind is: Is a new 3D Mario game coming? The first announcement focused on Donkey Kong Bananza, but the latest statement from Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser suggests that Mario may not be too far away. Although there is no official announcement yet, a small hint has opened the door to great expectations.

Is a New Mario Game Coming?

Mario Stay Tuned Message Excited Fans

In an interview with CNN, Doug Bowser did not directly answer the question of when Mario would make his debut on the Switch 2, but instead responded with the words “Stay Tuned.” This short but striking sentence suggested that a new main game announcement could be imminent. Bowser also said, “We have a long catalog and a lot of brands that I’m sure will come to the platform,” implying that Nintendo’s plans are quite broad.

Of course, this does not mean “Super Mario Odyssey 2 is on the way!” But the phrase “stay tuned” does not seem like a message winking at three years from now. The fact that the Nintendo EPD, the Odyssey team, has been silent for eight years could be a strong sign that something is being prepared. The Donkey Kong game is certainly an important title, but the question of whether it was the only one developed in this long time continues to bother Mario fans.

It would be quite surprising if Mario, Nintendo’s biggest brand, was not included in a new console release. That’s why many people believe that Mario will make his big debut after the Switch 2 launch. Although it is not yet clear what kind of game it will be, a new 3D Mario experience has been expected for a long time.

Although it is only speculation for now, Doug Bowser’s words were enough to keep expectations alive. If Nintendo is really preparing a new Mario game, that announcement moment may not be too far away. It would be useful to stay tuned.
