Is Death Stranding Coming to Switch 2?
Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding has been the subject of both controversy and praise in the gaming world. Now, a new rumor about the game is regarding Nintendo’s highly anticipated console, the Switch 2. Leaks suggest that Death Stranding may be coming to the Switch 2 soon.
Is Death Stranding Being Prepared for the Switch 2?
According to reports, Nash Weedle, a well-known leaker, has suggested that Death Stranding could be announced for the Switch 2. In a post before the Nintendo Direct, Weedle indicated that the port’s announcement is imminent. While no official announcement has been made, it’s believed that the Switch 2, with its much more powerful hardware than its predecessor, will be able to support such AAA games.
Death Stranding was originally released for PlayStation 4 and PC in 2019, followed by a port to PlayStation 5 in 2020 and Xbox Series X/S in 2024. Having surpassed 20 million players, the game has been a huge success, both financially and critically. Therefore, it’s no surprise that Kojima Productions wants to bring the game to a wider audience.
Nintendo’s new console, the Switch 2, has recently added major titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Borderlands 4 to its library. This makes a potential Switch 2 port of Death Stranding more likely. However, it’s important to remember that these rumors remain a rumor until an official announcement is made.
Uncertainty persists regarding the series’ sequel. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, released in 2025, became one of the highest-rated games of the year. Hideo Kojima has stated that he has ideas for a possible third game, but has stated that he is not currently planning to direct the project. Therefore, the future of the Death Stranding universe remains in question for now.
