Is Harley Quinn Returning? Margot Robbie Breaks the Silence

Harley Quinn, one of the most iconic characters in the DC universe, has been absent from the big screen for a long time. Margot Robbie, who played Harley throughout the series’ journey, starting with 2016’s Suicide Squad and continuing through The Suicide Squad, has become synonymous with the role. However, while there were speculations about whether the actress had received a new offer from DC Studios, Robbie finally broke her silence.

Margot Robbie: “I Love Harley, But No News”

Speaking to Variety, Margot Robbie confirmed that she had not received any offers from James Gunn to return as Harley Quinn. “I haven’t heard anything,” the renowned actress said, expressing her love for the character: “You can’t get tired of Harley. I love her deeply. I always wanted her to be an enduring character like Batman.” Robbie’s words suggest that her connection with the character remains strong, but that the possibility of a return is currently off the table.

Robbie’s portrayal of Harley Quinn has been one of the most praised portrayals in the DC Universe. However, the box office failure of Birds of Prey and the DCU’s entry into a new era have left the character’s future uncertain. Robbie stated that the role could be played by others in the long run and that she believes Harley has become an immortal figure.

DC Studios currently doesn’t have a definitive project for Harley Quinn. While Superman: Legacy and Batman: The Brave and the Bold are among the projects the new DCU focuses on, it’s unclear where Harley will fit into that universe. However, James Gunn’s praise for Robbie suggests the door isn’t completely closed.

Meanwhile, there are new developments regarding The Batman Part II, to be directed by Matt Reeves. Colin Farrell confirmed his return as the Penguin and said he would review the script this week. Rumors are also swirling that Zoë Kravitz won’t be returning as Catwoman. The new Batman movie will be released on October 1, 2027.
