Is Need For Speed Secretly Incorporating EA Games?
An interesting rumor has stirred up controversy at Electronic Arts. The appearance of the same branding and advertising in Need for Speed, Battlefield, and SKATE has led gamers to wonder, “Are EA games set in a shared universe?” These details, shared on social media, have sparked the idea of an “EA Cinematic Universe.”
Is There a Secret Connection Between EA Games?
A Twitter user named Cameron Leverton noticed the same fictional brands in Need for Speed Unbound, Battlefield 6, and SKATE. For example, the “Double Dip Donuts” sign from Need for Speed Unbound also appears in the Battlefield world. Furthermore, the same branding appears on billboards on SKATE’s San Vanderdam map.
This isn’t limited to a single example. Some players shared that the same brands also sponsor the EA Sports UFC game. This naturally sparked discussions within the community, such as, “Is EA really secretly grouping all its games into the same universe?” Players believe this connection is too obvious to be a coincidence.
Some fans have started calling this phenomenon “EACU,” meaning the EA Cinematic Universe. However, some experts believe this may simply be asset sharing. Major game studios reuse the same models, logos, or brands across games to reduce development time.
Such connections have occurred before in the gaming world. Dishonored and Deathloop are set in the same universe, while Alan Wake, Control, and Quantum Break are part of the same “Remedy universe.” Titanfall and Apex Legends are similarly interconnected. In other words, these connections can sometimes be the result of a deliberate universe plan or simply creative coincidences.
Nevertheless, these mysterious connections EA has recently established between its brands have piqued player interest. Perhaps we’re seeing the first signs of a truly massive EA universe, or perhaps just a few recurring signs. Either way, the future of Need for Speed is now a bit more intriguing.
