Is Resident Evil 7 Coming to Switch 2?

Resident Evil, one of the most popular horror game series, is making a comeback with the new generation of consoles. Rumors that the beloved Resident Evil 7: Biohazard will be released for the Switch 2 have generated excitement in the gaming world. While official confirmation has yet to be released, the rumors have piqued fans’ interest.

Resident Evil 7 and Switch 2 Rumors

According to reports, Capcom may be preparing to announce Resident Evil 7 for the Switch 2. Sources known for their leaks in the gaming world have suggested that Resident Evil 7 could be revealed during a Nintendo Direct broadcast expected in September. The event, which is rumored to have a “three sevens” theme, has further fueled these rumors.

Resident Evil 7 launched in 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and later came to Nintendo Switch via a cloud-based version. However, this version offered a limited experience due to hardware limitations. It is believed that the Switch 2’s more powerful hardware will allow the game to be played at full performance this time.

The game attracted attention with its atmosphere that brought the series back to its roots. Centering on Ethan Winters’ story, the game introduced a significant innovation in the series with its first-person perspective. Resident Evil 7 was the first game to utilize Capcom’s RE Engine, paving the way for its continued use in subsequent titles like Monster Hunter Wilds and Resident Evil Requiem.

While the rumors are strong, neither Nintendo nor Capcom have yet made an official announcement. Therefore, it remains unclear whether Resident Evil 7 will actually be coming to Switch 2. However, if the rumors prove true, players will have the opportunity to experience one of the series’ most lauded entries on Nintendo’s new console.
