Is Spielberg’s Secret Movie UFO Themed?

The first images of Steven Spielberg’s long-awaited untitled science fiction film were presented to the audience at a special event held recently. After the scenes shown, many viewers and cinema circles began to suggest that the director’s new project could be a UFO story.

First Clues About Spielberg’s Secret Science Fiction Film

In the short clip shown at the opening of Universal Pictures’ new cinema theater “Steven Spielberg Theater,” Emily Blunt plays a simple woman living in a rural area. Her character is followed by black vehicles with no license plates, and events quickly turn into a mysterious chase. These scenes give the first signals that Spielberg is combining his classic narrative style with modern techniques.

Is Spielberg's Secret Movie UFO Themed?

One of the striking moments in the clip was the scene where the car in which Josh O’Connor’s character is in collides with a train. The characters who escaped through the car’s window at the last moment brought the tension to its peak. The moments where Colin Firth was seen in an underground laboratory and probably took on the role of the enemy drew attention. Although Eve Hewson and Colman Domingo were also in the footage, no information was given about their roles.

The script of the film was written by David Koepp. Koepp, who previously worked with Spielberg on productions such as Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds and Indiana Jones, stated that the director was very involved in the process in this project. Koepp, who said, “He is very successful in combining great visuals with human emotions,” stated that the new film will follow this line.

The film, whose name has not yet been announced, will be released by Universal Pictures on June 12, 2026. The production, which includes names such as Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo and Wyatt Russell, is already a candidate to be one of the most talked about projects of the year. The short scenes that have been introduced show that Spielberg is still an effective presence in the world of cinema, staying away from retirement.
