Veteran actor James Earl Jones, who voiced Darth Vader in the Star Wars series, died at the age of 93. Known for his gray hair and iconic voice, Jones was considered one of the biggest names in Hollywood.

Jones’ manager Barry McPherson announced that the actor passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Best known for the distinctive voice he gave to Darth Vader, Jones left a huge legacy in the film world. He played important roles not only in Star Wars but also in films such as Field of Dreams, Coming to America, Conan the Barbarian and The Lion King.
Jones’ performance in Star Wars expressed his feelings for the actor, saying, “RIP Dad,” as Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) wrote when he shared the news of his death.

Jones has won two Emmys and a Grammy award in his career, and was awarded an honorary Oscar for lifetime achievement in 2011. After Sidney Poitier, he became the second Black actor to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor. Kevin Costner shared moving memories of Jones’ booming voice.
