James Gunn: A Famous Name in DC Elseworlds!

Gunn, who is the head of the Superman and DCU projects, stated that a famous actor presented him with an idea for Elseworlds, but that the script had to be at the level of a masterpiece for this project to come to life. Gunn, who wants to breathe new life into the DC cinematic universe, both excited fans and raised expectations.
The Bar is Very High for Elseworlds Projects
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Gunn stated that the door is open to Elseworlds stories outside the main flow of the DCU, but that it is difficult to approve every project. Emphasizing that different narrative styles from animations to live action can be evaluated within the scope of Elseworlds, Gunn also expressed his respect for Matt Reeves’ Batman universe. He said that they are open to projects from important names like Reeves, but that the script must be strong under all circumstances.
Gunn stated that a very famous movie star, whose name he did not disclose, told him about the Elseworlds story idea and that this actor is still working on the project. However, Gunn clearly stated how high the bar is by saying, “The script has to be a masterpiece, otherwise this project will not happen.” Although the identity of the famous actor has not been officially announced, the name Michael B. Jordan is frequently mentioned among fans. It was previously known that Jordan was developing a Black Superman project based on the Val-Zod character.
James Gunn also added that a clear distinction will be made so that Elseworlds projects do not mix with the DCU. Emphasizing that they will not allow random series or low-budget productions in order to maintain quality, Gunn said that quality control will be a priority in the DC universe.
