One of Hollywood’s most beloved figures, Keanu Reeves, openly expressed his desire to return to the Cyberpunk universe in an interview with IGN. Answering questions at the press tour for his new film, Good Fortune, the actor said, “Absolutely. I would love to reprise Johnny Silverhand.” However, Reeves’s return will be entirely at the discretion of CD Projekt Red.
Cyberpunk 2077 generated significant buzz with its 2020 release, with Keanu Reeves’s charisma and energetic performance generating considerable buzz. Players were further drawn to the game’s atmosphere thanks to Johnny Silverhand’s fierce humor and compelling story. Therefore, Reeves’s potential return has already become one of the most anticipated elements of Cyberpunk 2.
There is currently very little information about the sequel. It was announced that the project entered pre-production in May 2025. No official release date has been given, but development is expected to take at least four to five years. According to series creator Mike Pondsmith, the new game will be set in a different city inspired by the theme of “Chicago gone wrong.” It has also been confirmed that Night City will feature in the story.

This suggests the studio has laid out a long-term vision for both franchises. While Keanu Reeves’ return to Cyberpunk 2 hasn’t been officially announced, fans’ hopes are growing stronger.
