Ken Levine Talks About Judas

Ken Levine, creator of the BioShock series, made important statements about his new project Judas. Levine stated that the game, which began development in 2014 and is planned to be released in 2025, has a more open-ended structure compared to BioShock. Judas aims to offer an original narrative experience where players’ decisions organically affect the flow of the story. Developed by Ghost Story Games, the game invites players to fight for survival on a decaying spaceship.

Differences Between Judas and BioShock

Ken Levine explained that the main difference between Judas and BioShock is in the storytelling and gameplay structure. Levine described the BioShock games as “a very long corridor”, while he said that Judas cares more about player preferences. Players’ choices can directly affect the course of the game and the reactions of the characters.

Levine said: “The BioShock story had a certain beginning, middle and end structure. However, Judas will offer a much more open-ended storytelling. This aims to allow the story to make sense organically while also giving the player more freedom.”

Judas offers a sci-fi story set in a retro-futuristic universe. Players will try to survive on a collapsing spaceship through the eyes of R.E.A.C.H., an artificial intelligence trapped in a human body. The game will offer a unique experience by combining pixel art, cinematic platforming elements and fluid combat mechanics.

Levine stated that every action of the players can affect the outcome of the game and that the development team wrote character reactions considering all possible actions of the players. This approach shows that Judas could be a groundbreaking production in storytelling.

Judas, which has been in development for nearly a decade, will be released in 2025. The game has already attracted great interest with both its gameplay mechanics and open-ended storytelling. Like Levine’s previous projects, Judas aims to provide players with an unforgettable experience, with more information on the game’s release date and a detailed trailer expected to be shared in the coming months.
