Kojima Responds to Call of Duty Rumors
Death Stranding’s extraordinary world has been a topic of discussion in the gaming world since its release in 2019. While some fans of the game praised this different structure, others expected a more classic action. Hideo Kojima responded to these expectations with his own style and gave a clear answer to the claims of a Call of Duty-like project.
Kojima’s Call Of Duty Comment
Kojima emphasized in an interview he gave as part of the World Stranding Tour held in Sydney that he took the criticisms he received while developing Death Stranding 2 into consideration but did not change his direction. Kojima, who said that the first game was defined as a “strand-type”, that is, a unique genre, and that its unusual structure surprised some players, also admitted that he could have chosen the easy way for the second game.
“I could have made a Call of Duty-style shooter with Sam,” Kojima said, clearly stating that many people might like it but he didn’t prefer that path. For him, the important thing is to offer a different experience and challenge familiar patterns.
Kojima reminded us that a similar situation occurred during the Metal Gear Solid era. Back then, some players demanded more weapons and action. In Death Stranding, these expectations were expressed with “walking simulator” comments. However, Kojima said that these criticisms would not be enough to change the game’s uniqueness.
The famous designer stated that Death Stranding 2 follows in the footsteps of the first game and aims to exceed expectations while offering players a familiar structure. Now, all eyes are on the full reviews to be released on June 23. Fans are eager to see how Death Stranding 2 presents a sequel story while preserving Kojima’s own style.
