Kojima’s PT Is Giving Students Nightmares in Japan
Kojima’s legendary horror demo, PT, has once again made headlines in the classroom. An English teacher in Japan, attempting to teach his students the language in a fun way, immersed them in a near-horror experience. However, the screams that erupted throughout the lesson divided everyone on the effectiveness of this method.
Kojima’s PT Used in English Teaching
A teacher at Tsunan High School in Niigata decided to use Kojima’s PT demo as a teaching material. While the students played the game in English, the teacher asked them to express the moves on the screen in English. Commands like “Let’s walk” and “Let’s answer the phone” quickly transformed the classroom into a thriller scene.
According to the school’s blog, the students experienced intense fear due to the game’s sudden sounds and dark atmosphere. However, this unusual lesson also had its share of fun. Some students said they enjoyed practicing their English even while shaking with fear.
Kojima’s boundary-pushing style in the gaming world has also sparked discussion in the education world. While some found this method creative, others argued that it was inappropriate for children’s psychology. The long-term effects of teaching language, particularly through horror elements, have become a topic of discussion.
Nevertheless, the lesson remained an unforgettable experience for the students. Learning English while simultaneously experiencing the chilling atmosphere of PT tested both their language skills and their courage. If this method becomes widespread, it could even usher in a new era of horror-based education with games like “Alien: Isolation” or “Dead Space.”
