Latest Developments About Sands Of Time Remake
Prince of Persia fans have been put to the test of patience considering that it has been exactly five years since the Sands of Time Remake announcement. The remake, which was introduced in 2020 and whose first trailer was met with negative reactions, has been postponed repeatedly, changed developer studios, and almost started from scratch. After all these setbacks, Ubisoft shared a short but promising update on social media.
What is the Status of Sands of Time Remake?
Sands of Time Remake, which the Ubisoft Montreal team is working on, remains one of the company’s projects “in deep development.” In the latest post, it was humorously conveyed that the team is passionate about the project, meticulously handling every detail, and working by consuming lots of coffee. The post was accompanied by a new concept drawing showing a glass palace under a pink sky.
The remake was initially planned to be released in January 2021. However, after negative feedback, the project was first postponed several times and then moved from the Pune and Mumbai studios to the Montreal studio. The Montreal team aims to completely renew the project and combine the spirit of the original Sands of Time with modern technologies. According to the statement made last year, the new version is not expected to be released before 2026.
Ubisoft reminded fans who are impatient for new developments that the wait will not be in vain and that the project is being carefully shaped. In addition, for players who do not want to sit idle during this process, the spin-off game The Rogue Prince of Persia, prepared by Dead Cells developer Evil Empire, was suggested. This game will be released from early access in August.
The difficult few years have also forced Ubisoft to restructure. The company decided to direct resources to these giant projects by establishing a new subsidiary for major brands such as Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six and Far Cry. It is thought that Prince of Persia will also receive special attention within the scope of this restructuring. In short, the Sands of Time Remake will require a little more patience, but Ubisoft’s latest statements confirm that work continues on a return that will do justice to the classic game.
