[Leak] AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D Revealed
Just before the launch of AMD Ryzen 9000X3D processor, specifications for the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D has leaked.
AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D Specifications
In a recent social media post, AMD stated that the Ryzen 9000X3D series of CPUs would be released worldwide on Thursday, November 7. One of the key features of the Ryzen X3D processor lineup compared to other Ryzen units is the inclusion of AMD’s patented 3D V-Cache technology to vastly improve gaming performance. However, the tradeoffs of using a Ryzen X3D CPU include lower clock speeds and the inability to overclock the system, in addition to the higher initial costs.
Along with confirming previous leaks of the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D packaging, the latest piece of information may be pertinent for PC builders. According to information obtained by Twitter user AhnPhuH (and corroborated by VideoCardz), the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D will utilize AMD’s second generation of 3D V-Cache technology to boost gaming performance. It is not clear how the latest iteration of 3D V-Cache will compare to what is available on the Ryzen 5000X3D and 7000X3D processors. It also remains unclear how many processors will be released alongside the Ryzen 7 9800X3D on November 7. However, the specs of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D may make it an enticing buy for PC builders, as it will be an 8-core CPU with a higher base clock speed of 4.7 GHZ that can be boosted to 5.2 GHz.
By comparison, the Ryzen 7 9700X has base clock speeds of 3.9 GHz and boosted speeds of 5.5 GHz. In addition to the next generation of 3D V-Cache, the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is stated to have a total power draw (TDP) of 120W, which is 55W more than the Ryzen 7 9700X. The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D will be compatible with AM5 motherboards, such as the X870 and X870E motherboards by Gigabyte and ASUS, though a BIOS update may be required to ensure full compatibility with the new Ryzen CPUs.
Between the launch of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and continued work on RDNA 4 graphics cards, AMD’s gaming division is showing no signs of slowing down. It remains to be seen if other Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs will be released on November 7.
