Lilo & Stitch 2 Is Officially Coming

Disney has announced that it has begun preparations for Lilo & Stitch 2, one of the least surprising pieces of news of 2025. This development, which comes after the live-action version was a huge box office success, also brought to the agenda the possibility that some of the original team members may return to the project.

The live-action Lilo & Stitch film, originally developed for Disney+, grossed $923 million worldwide despite low-budget visual effects. As the film approaches the billion-dollar mark, the studio is also rolling up its sleeves for the sequel. Although it has not yet been announced who will sit in the director’s chair, it is estimated that Chris Sanders and Maia Kealoha will return.

Director Dean Fleischer Camp has emphasized how special it was for him to work with Chris Sanders on the first film. In an interview with Variety , he said, “The first person I asked before I accepted the project was Chris Sanders,” highlighting the strong collaboration between the creative team. Camp also stated that a sequel would only be made if “the right idea” was found.

The original was followed by the direct-to-DVD film Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch . It is not yet known whether the new film will be inspired by this story.
